6th DRC Summer School

It is great pleasure of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM), Vienna, IDResearch Ltd (IDR), Pécs in co-operation with Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Pécs to inform you about our next Summer University of the Danube Rectors Conference in Budapest, Hungary between 5 and 12 July 2009. The general topic is Regime Change and Transitions across the Danubian Region: 1989 – 2009.

KULA journal - special edition
Dear Madam / Sir,

on the May 25th, which was in former socialist Yugoslavia known as the Youth Day, we would like to announce a special edition of Kula journal with the title ‘Tito - the old icon in new contexts’. Texts, edited by Dr Miha Kozorog, were presented at the student seminar Roaming Anthropology 4, which took place in May 2006 in Nova Gorica (Slovenia). Tito, the former Yugoslav leader, is again very present in different discourses in Slovenia. That´s why we decided to publish the results of the seminar. The texts will be soon available on the web page www.kula.si.

We are kindly inviting you to traditionaly 19th inventing tradition party - special radikalo paranormale multi kontra kulti bash for erasmus students, which will take place in Cafe Trotsky (Rog area - Trubarjeva 72 upstairs) on wednesday, 20th of may at 22h (untill whenever yo). It´s the last one, so don´t miss it.

As you are on erasmus exchange we think that it is not only appropriate but actually necessary to spent some (or majority ha) time in a party-animal stlylee yo! Multi kontra kulti bashes are going on every wednesday, so feel free to come any wednesday  yo! ;) unzip your mind and pArTy!!!

Office hours of prof. dr. Mirjam Mencej

Office hours in June and July will take place with some changes:

  • From 1st to 5th June - office hours are cancelled,
  • 10th June - as usual,
  • 17th June - as usual,
  • From 22th to 26th June - office hours are cancelled,
  • 1st July - as usual,
  • 7th July - office hours wil take place at 12:00 (instead of those at 8th July).

From 9th July to 16th August prof. Mencej will be abroad on an academictrip and not available by e-mail. Due to the holiday she will be within reach from 3rd September on.

Hello! As some of you already know, we are organizing a picnic on Friday, 22.5.2009. It is a traditional picnic ETNO = FLETNO which we organize every year. There will be good music (with a few bands), barbecue (so nobody will go home hungry:)), refreshments, different games and attractive prices. So if you want to spend some quality time surrounded with good company, join us ´cause I promise you won’t be sorry:) The picnic starts at 11.30am in front of the Department of ethnology and cultural anthropology (Zavetiška 5) and ends at ??

The Gueen Jadwiga Fund - Competition 2009/2010
Dear Colleagues,
 
According to our nine-year long tradition so far, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, announces a competition for The Queen Jadwiga Fund Scholarships for the academic year 2009/2010. The scholarships are dedicated to young academic staff and doctoral students of the universities in Central and Eastern Europe.
 
Since 2000 more than 770 scholarships were granted to recipients from 21 countries. Their stay in Krakow provides a scientific research under the tuition of the Jagiellonian professors for 1-3 months between October
2009 and June 2010. Papers are being received till June 15th 2009 and the results will be known in July 2009.
At the same time the competition for the Jozef Dietl Scholarship is announced, dedicated to doctoral students in medical sciences. Their stay provides 12-month research (October 2009 - September 2010) at the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
